Episode 41: Curtain of Distraction
Ken returned this week and didn’t waste any time firing back at Tim for all of the jokes he made last week. Before getting into the show we discussed our earned “explicit” rating, Camille getting ready to go to her first spin class, and had a few shoutouts. As usual, we covered a wide range of topics on this episode, including the NFL, NBA, WWE, and NCAA. You can listen to this episode via iTunes, Google Play, Stitcher, and Soundcloud; you can also skip ahead to the topic of your choosing by clicking on the corresponding time stamp(s).
You know what we had to start with...J.R. Smith throwing soup on assistant coach Damon Jones (00:12:50). After that we talked about some new ideas the NBA and NBPA are open to in regards to high school basketball players and the draft (00:17:28) which led into an impromptu flame session about Tim’s new glasses (00:20:56). We got back on track and discussed the latest with Kawhi Leonard (00:23:26) and how the Nuggets benched Nikola Jokic two weeks after saying he was a MVP candidate (00:25:14).
Next we discussed DeMar DeRozan/Kevin Love being transparent about their mental health (00:26:54), and the NBA falling into the Streisand effect when it comes to tanking (00:27:58). We finished up our NBA topic discussion by talking about the Clippers new Bumble sponsorship (00:30:30) and how fans are getting out of control with all of these recruitment billboards (00:35:50).
The Steelers did what they said they would and threw that franchise tag on Le’Veon Bell so we discussed what Bell’s options are going forward (00:37:33). After that we gave our opinions on a few of the transactions that recently happened (00:39:21), Sam Shields making his football return (00:42:23), and Aqib Talib’s request for his release from the Broncos (00:43:09). Richard Sherman is apparently going to be leaving the Seattle Seahawks so we talked about what happened to the Legion of Boom (00:43:56).
Jerry Jones had to cash the NFL out over legal fees which led into a conversation about impregnating Oprah (00:44:38), and somehow that led us to ponder if it’s more disrespectful to get posterized or crossed (00:46:45). After getting back into NFL conversations, we discussed teams with lots of cap space (00:49:30) and some notable referee retirements (00:52:42). We finished up the NFL discussion by talking about Peyton Manning selling all 31 of his Papa John franchises two days before it was announced that Pizza Hut would become the NFL’s new official pizza sponsor (00:53:03).
