We apologize (no Desus and Mero) for last week’s lost episode but we’re back like we never left! Tim was on a completely different level which led to an interesting intro. Before getting into the show we discussed exercising, Camille’s experience at the Bucks game, and dropped our social media handles. As usual, we covered a wide range of topics on this episode, including the NFL, NBA, WWE, and NCAA. You can listen to this episode via iTunes, Google Play, Stitcher, and Soundcloud; you can also skip ahead to the topic of your choosing by clicking on the corresponding time stamp(s).
We decided to try something different with our show format! Before we broke down the show by sport, but we figured that we’d just mix everything up and see what happens.
We kicked things off by discussing March Madness and all that’s come with it so far (00:11:20), Justin Turner’s wrist injury (00:16:54), and Jordan Clarkson’s hot takes on dinosaurs as pets (00:18:04). Ty Lue is stepping away from the Cavaliers so we discussed what that could mean for the Cavs going forward (00:20:08) before discussing the announced NFL season-opening game (00:22:38). As usual, we got a little off track to discuss how old this Bacardi Limon was and how bad Ken’s feet are (00:23:14).
Odell Beckham Jr. has been in the news for some less-than-pleasant reasons so we discussed how that could affect his contract negotiations (00:25:05) before giving serious credit to Orville Rogers and Julia Hawkins for their recent record breaking performances (00:27:40). Next we talked about Desus and Mero on the Breakfast Club (00:29:13), Vontaze Burfict and his possible PED suspension (00:34:20), and how the MLB is seeking legislation to continue to pay minor league players poorly (00:36:02). Next we discussed Glen “Big Baby” Davis’ Instagram video (00:38:48) and paid our respects to Tom Benson (00:42:06).
Given that both the Warriors and Celtics are facing injuries to some key players, we discussed how that affects their playoff odds (00:42:25). NFL Free Agency is in full swing so we discussed some of the bigger moves (00:50:39) before discussing the new eSports arena that’s being built in Arlington (00:58:13). After that we discussed how Ray Allen’s book got Rajon Rondo feeling a type of way (01:01:28), Andrew Wiggins feeling some kind of way about being the third option in Minnesota (01:03:49), and CM Punk’s UFC future (01:05:54). Sticking on the UFC theme, we discussed the claims that Floyd Mayweather made to TMZ Sports (01:07:33).
Next we discussed the University of Memphis hiring Penny Hardaway (01:08:14), what a Masters loss would mean for Tiger Wood’s career (01:09:09), why the WWE changed the name of the Fabulous Moolah Battle Royale (01:11:04), and the record setting performance from the UConn women’s basketball team (01:12:30). We’d be remiss to ignore everything that’s been going on with OJ Simpson so we had some words (01:13:00).
After that, we gave props to Mark Henry for getting inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame (01:15:43), pondered if *NSYNC or the Backstreet Boys would win in a 5-on-5 basketball game (01:15:59), discussed Charlie Ebersol’s new football league (01:17:18). We finished up this segment by talking about Daniel Bryan’s return and some dream match-ups (01:21:07).
HEADING INTO OVERTIME
We cut on Facebook Live and then went to our TECKnical Foul Pod: Overtime Facebook group to respond to listener questions from the following:
Nels: Are the Rockets the favorites now and is it time to take the Raptors seriously? (01:24:45)
PJ: As LeBron gets older, who do you see being the new face of the NBA? (01:26:14)
E. Blaze: Is the hype around Trae Young real? (01:27:27)
Adam: UFC or Boxing...which is more exciting and which sport has the better future? (01:28:58)
Cereal Sensei/Dwayne: Thoughts on the Browns off-season thus far and do you think they’ll win at least four games? (01:31:05)
Dwayne: Thoughts on the 49ers free agency moves? (01:31:58)
BLOW THE WHISTLE
One (kind of) victim this week:
Camille quickly discussed what her blow the whistle was during the lost episode and said that was some ho stuff (01:33:14)
We reviewed the results of last week’s #TECKTop5 poll that Camille won (01:34:07) before we dropped our #TECKTop5 Craziest NBA Fights (01:35:13). To drop your own #TECKTop5 or to vote on the poll, make sure that you are a member of our TECKnical Foul Pod: Overtime Facebook group.
(01:44:00) We wrapped things up by dropping our social media handles and saying our goodbyes. Thanks for listening, remember to share the show with your friends, and check back in next week!
