Episode 44: #TimGem
Shoutout to Pistol Pete for Episode 44. Before getting into the show we discussed Tyrone Hankerson scamming Howard University, Eric’s Chicago trip, Easter/Good Friday at work, and freestyling. As usual, we covered a wide range of topics on this episode, including the NFL, NBA, WWE, and NCAA. You can listen to this episode via iTunes, Google Play, Stitcher, and Soundcloud; you can also skip ahead to the topic of your choosing by clicking on the corresponding time stamp(s).
We kicked things off by discussing March Madness and who we think will win it all (00:15:22), the Spurs players only meeting (00:21:00), and WWE thinking about bringing Hulk Hogan back into the fold (00:25:20). Now that we know the severity of Kyrie Irving and Steph Curry’s respective injuries, we discussed what we think will happen to each team’s respective playoff chances (00:28:15) which morphed into a conversation about swinging. Once we got back on track, we discussed Isaiah Thomas’s future after hip surgery (00:35:28) and the returns of John Wall and Markelle Fultz (00:36:57).
Since we were talking about injuries, we briefly discussed injuries to Charlotte Flair and Shane McMahon (00:37:27) before switching gears to discuss what’s going on with Odell Beckham Jr. and the Giants (00:39:40). We hate being bad news Bears but we had to discuss some legal cases going on with Michael Bennett, Duron Harmon, Trevone Boykin, and Albert Belle (00:44:14). After discussing those more serious topics, we discussed the joy of MLB opening day and what we think will unfold this season (00:47:40), Rhonda Rousey’s weird ESPN interviews (00:52:17), and Jordy Nelson’s side of what happened in Green Bay (00:55:44).
Always innovating, the NBA will have the Finals sponsored by YouTube TV (00:57:24) and introduce mircotransactions next season (00:57:44) so we talked about how that could work. ESPN released an article titled “The Dominant 20” which looked at the most dominant athletes in their respective sports over the last two decades, so we discussed if we agreed or disagreed with the top 5 (00:59:38) which led into a conversation about Roger Federer skipping clay season (01:04:43). We then paid our respects to both Zeke Upshaw and Stephon Clark (01:05:31).
The NFL made some rule changes so we discussed how we feel those rules will change the game (01:07:33) and sticking with NFL, we discussed the Ndamukong Suh signing and the Jason Pierre-Paul trade (01:11:58). Next we discussed the latest happenings with Johnny Manziel (01:13:20), the BIG3 League’s personnel changes (01:15:00), and LaVar Ball’s Junior Basketball Association league (01:15:55). We wrapped things up by discussing the upcoming Anthony Joshua/Joseph Parker fight (01:21:12) and how Memphis Grizzlies players reacted to losing by 61 points to the Charlotte Hornets (01:23:49).
HEADING INTO OVERTIME
We cut on Facebook Live and then went to our TECKnical Foul Pod: Overtime Facebook group to respond to listener questions from the following:
Jerrell: With what the Giants want in return for Odell Beckham Jr., isn’t that only allowing the Browns to trade for him? Thoughts on the Eagles keeping Nick Foles? How do you feel about the Rams defense? (01:25:27)
J. Stills: The Chicago Bears will be the surprise of the division this season (01:28:13)
Tim: How do y’all feel about Daniel Bryan’s upcoming WrestleMania match? (01:29:22)
Willie Mo: Dive deeper into the LA Rams and is TECK Foul going to host a Packers/Rams party in LA? (01:32:13)
Johnny Triumph: Do you think the Warriors or Celtics have a chance of losing in the first two rounds? (01:34:17)
BLOW THE WHISTLE
Three victims this week:
Misogynistic behavior in the TECK Foul FB Group (01:36:18)
